Battling the elements all weekend long, the U11AA GT Capitals were victorious at the Gene Harrington Winter Experience on January 21, 2024. The team played through the snow and sleet in their morning game outdoors, defeating the Markham Waxers 3-1. This was followed by a 3-3 tie against the Orangeville Flyers later that afternoon.
Having time to rest on Saturday, the boys came out hungry and earned their place in the semi-finals by beating the Glancaster Bombers 5-0 in the final game of the round robin. The semi final was a rematch against the Orangeville Flyers and the boys persevered through three OTs to claim a spot in the finals winning 2-1. The finals later that afternoon had the only two undefeated teams left in the tournament. Facing off against a quick and talented Stratford Warriors team, the boys battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to tie the game in the third period. Neither team scored by the final whistle and this led to another sudden death OT for your Capitals. While shorthanded, grit and determination led the boys to victory scoring within the first minute of OT to win the Championship Game!
